Putting up before the snow flies....

The seasons are changing and fall is here. I'm in total nesting mode; cleaning house, putting the summer things away and canning up yummy things for when NO ONE wants to go out into the cold, etc. Over the last two weeks I've been pouring over one of my favorite canning blogs (Food In Jars) and shopping thru the last of the farmer's market. I've put up apple and pear butters so far....

This pic is actually Spiced Applesauce. I used freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon, star anise and a good slug of apple cider in it.

I just love getting the crockpot out and making something wonderful! (Corny sounding, I know ;) Water bath canning is so simple and easy once you have all your equipment out and great produce. I like being able to see all the full gleaming jars and get a satisfied feeling when I know exactly whats in it, etc.

I ended up with a dozen pint jars of apple butter and 10 pints of pear butter. Up next is reg and tomitillo salsa.

Dog-o-matic v2.0

RJ's gonna FINALLY get a new sweater!!! It's actually done already and just awaiting buttons etc. I sewed it together and blocked it only to spill coffee on it. Doh! Poochie is also getting a matching one with the left over yarn. Twinsies!!!

Dragonfly Lake Scents

I've been working on the Etsy shop....take a look!

Shetland Triangle Shawl

I knit the Shetland Triangle Shawl! Actually this is the second time I've knit it. The last time, it wasn't as big as I liked. I tried to unpicked the edging and re-knit a few more pattern repeats but I screwed it up so I ended up frogging it.

But now?! How's this??!!!

You can't beat me, shawl!!!

Details....
Yarn: Noro Kureyon Sock Yarn
Needles: Size 6 US Knitpicks harmony needles
I used the entire skein of yarn (plus a few yards for another skein to finish the bind-off.)

The Erie, PA SnB had a dying party for the birthday of one of our members! Dying with koolaid is fun especially with friends.

Because I canNOT resist a bag....

....I almost always have one on the needles or in front of the sewing machine. Here's the BYOB...I've actually been meaning to knit for quite awhile. To my surprise, there's an updated version of the pattern.

Other than the fact I've gonna have a bunch of ends to weave in, I actually like how it's knitting up. Pretty straight forward directions. It IS alot of seed stitch (which I HATE) but I love how seed stitch looks so....::shrug:: I made do.

Here's the finished denim bag from the last post.

I'm not 100% in love with how it looks; I was actually going to sell it at the next craft fair but I'm just NOT in love with it so....I saved it for myself.

And how about an updated Jaywalker Sock ?! I'm actually a bit farther than this; I've finished the first and started the second sock.

It's Been Exactly A Month....

....and I still haven't even STARTED on my apron like Amy's. Oh well. I'll get to it! I have, however, been VERY busy.

After buying my sweetie (who's a tea aficionado) a cast iron tea pot, I thought, what would be the perfect gift for it? Something I said I'd NEVER knit??? Yea. I know. A Tea cosy. ::RME::

Here is the set complete with hot pad. I used alot of wool scrapes I had because it would keep the warm for the longest. Cast iron + wool= warm tea for hours!!!

I've also been going BAG CRAZY on the sewing end. I started (but haven't finished) a denim bag from scrapes, of course!
I'm not 100% sure I'm in love with the shape of the pieces or the pieces that I cut so this may change.

Sometimes....I even SEW! (who knew?!)

I've just completed my first craft fair where I was selling hand knit items (washcloths mostly) and my bath and body products. It was the first craft fair as official Dragonfly Lake Scents and Bunny Spun fibers by one of the best spinners I know. It was great!

Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea for us to have aprons to handle money in and keep other things while we're "working" etc. So without further ado....here's Amy's Apron!! (Mine to come soon!)

Smaller and Warmer...

So. The weather is attempting to get a little warmer and I've got startitis. So I've been knitting smaller type projects and trying not to cast on ALL. THE. THNGS!!!

How's some Jaywalker socks sound?

Dishcloths sound like a good idea too...

Oh yea! And my bestie, girlfriend and myself did a craft fair!

This is alpaca yarn spun up by my bestie!

And this is the table all set up and ready to go! I was selling soaps, body butters, body scrubs and washcloths/bathmitts.

Annnnddddd D-O-N-E!!!

I FINALLY finished my lanesplitter skirt! (Yayyyy....just in time for spring...lol) This skirt has been on the needles for almost 2 years. Mostly because last year, I knew I wasn't going to finish it before it got warm again so I let it hibernate until this fall/winter. And of course, I've now finished it but still won't get to wear it I don't think, because it's finally warming up around these parts. Oh well...LOL

The skirt itself actually ended up a bit longer than I imagined (either that or I'm a helluva lot shorter than I thought!!!) I guess I could steek it again at the bottom. I think I'll just leave it alone and call it a day. All and all....took wayyyy too long but, ah well.

ADHD Crafting....

I'm pretty sure I have adult on-set ADHD....my crafts are ALL. OVER. THE. PLACE!!!

Check it out...

My GF's lab mix is getting a custom made t-shirt. I used a couple of paper grocery bags to make a "pattern" of sorts by taping them together and then cutting it out to the measurements of a store bought jacket.

I've also been knitting and sewing coffee cozies for my Etsy Shop.....

I also spent some time over the weekend making Lemongrass scented soap (again for the etsy shop)...

I used a mixture of olive oil, palm oil, caster oil and coconut oil. It smells DIVINE!
